Meal Planning Tips

  • The most obvious tip would be to make a menu/meal plan, without one of these you've got nothing to work off of. When you have a plan you will be less likely to spend money on things you don't need, or even fast food/takeaways. You would have spent the time meal planning, therefore you've set yourself up for the week ahead. You have spent the time planning, therefore you will not want to put that to waste.
  • When writing your meal plan, make sure you take into consideration what you and your family like to eat, what you know will go down a storm! There's no point planning meals that your family won't enjoy - as this could potentially lead to food wastage. So when you're planning take into consideration everyone's preferences and opinions on the food you're planning.
  • Once you've meal planned, write your shopping list. This will prevent you forgetting any items you need to make the meals on your meal plan.
  • Another massive tip both Chloe and I believe in - is to get inspired! You need to feel inspired and have some ideas on the meals you want to add to your meal plans. Otherwise you'll sit there looking at your empty meal plan with no inspiration or idea on what meals to plan. Instagram and Youtube are an amazing place for you to find meal inspiration, as well as so many online website and amazing recipe books! Sit down for 20 minutes, rummage through these platforms and write down any meals that catch your eye and add those into your meal plan.
  • Keep it SIMPLE, nothing needs to be fancy or extravagant. Keep things simple, it'll save you money, time and food waste. Sometimes when it comes to making fancy meals you need to buy 109298247 different ingredients that you may never use again. Whereas if you keep things simple, family friendly this will be a lot easier for you.
  • Theme nights are also a really good idea to add into your meal plans, for example Taco Tuesdays, Fajita Fridays - making the meal planning fun with theme nights will motivate you more to meal plan week after week.
